    EGFP Protein

    Catalog number :AT1698
    loading...
Purified recombinant Enhanced Green Fluorescent Protein (EGFP); fused to 6xHis-tag

Green fluorescent protein (GFP) here refers to the protein first purified from jellyfish Aequorea victoria, though many other organisms have similar proteins. It is a 26.9 kDa protein (composed of 238 amino acid residues) that shows green fluorescence in shortwave light (blue to ultraviolet). Despite of wild-type GFP, many mutants of GFP have been engineered for wider usage in research.

Enhanced GFP (EGFP, composed of 239 amino acid residues) has the following mutations: M1_S2insV/F64L/S65T/H232L, which make GFP show increased fluorescence and fold more efficiently under 37 degrees C, respectively. EGFP allows the use of GFP in mammalian cells. In A. Victoria, GFP plays roles as an energy transfer acceptor. It has long been used in cell and molecular biology as a reporter of gene expression. GFP can also been applied as a molecular thermometer to measure temperature accurately in fluids.

It is reported to be a rapidly-maturing weak homodimer with moderate acid sensitivity.

    Overview
    Description
Purified recombinant enhanced green fluorescent protein fused to 6xHis-tag, full length protein. Engineered from Aequorea victoria
    Tested applications
Western blot: use ~25 ng - 100 ng EGFP per lane

Immunoprecipitation(IP): use ~5 µg EGFP per 25 µL anti-GFP antibody conjugated beads slurry

SDS-PAGE: use ~ 1 µg EGFP per lane

    ELISA: coat ~ 1ng - 50 ng per well of a 96-well plate

Sustained release formulations of protein drugs:used as the model protein

Producing antibody by immunizing animals: used as the immunogen
